The other day we were watching an episode from "VICE" channel on YouTube, and the show focused on the food at this restaurant. The food looked super good on the show, so we decided to drive to LA and see if it tastes good as good as it looks on the show.
今日は美味しいメキシカンを食べにロサンゼルスに行ってきました。
実は先日VICEというチャンネルをYouTubeで観ていて、ロサンゼルスにある
美味しいお店の紹介をしていたのです。
それで一番気になったのが"Mexicali"というレストラン。
It's a quick eat and go place rather than a dining restaurant, so majority of the customers were a lot of businessmen grabbing quick lunch.
どちからというとほとんどの客がビジネスマン。
ゆっくり座って食べるレストランというよりも軽くランチを食べてみんな仕事に戻るというスタイル。
なのでもちろんご飯が出てくるペースも早め。
I noticed when looking at the menu all the dishes were cheap!
Then I assumed its a quick lunch place, the portion must be pretty small in size.
(Small sized portions are perfect for me here :| )
メニューを見てみると全て安い！！
これだけ安いってことはそんな１つずつ量が多くないんだってここで気づき少し安心。
The 3 drinks at the counter made fresh. Rice milk, lemonade and watermelon juice.
入ったらすぐに３種類のフレッシュジュースが置いてある。
スイカジュース、米から作ったライスミルク、レモネード。
Watermelon was added fresh just as when I went in the restaurant so I ordered the watermelon juice.
スイカジュースをオーダー。

ライスミルクもオーダー、シナモンパウダーがかかって甘めで美味しい。
While you are waiting for your food to come, they have a salsa bar in the corner
and you get to take as much salsa to your table. They had avocado sauce, pico de gallo, 3-4 different types of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and onions.
The owner has came up to our table and told us that in Mexicali, the concept is to put
all the sauces and vegetables together on top.
ご飯が出てくる数分待つ間に隅っこにあるサルサバーに行きます。
ここで３〜４種類違ったサルサやアボカドソース、ピコデガヨ、野菜をカップに入れていきテーブルに持ち帰ります。
オーナーさんが忙しい中出て来てサルサ全部かけて食べたら美味しいよと教えてくれました。

サルサやアボカドソース、野菜やライムを準備して頂きます。
Tostada with carne asada (with grilled leek and pinto beans, the beans were awesome)

It's time to put different salsas and enjoy every bite with a different taste!
Tostada was super crispy, the meat on top is tasty, I fell in love with it from the first bite.
Its also perfect in size. I loved everything about it.
サルサ１つずつかなり美味しくて少しピリ辛。
トスターダもちょうどいい固さに揚げてありパリパリして
何個も食べれるなと思うぐらい美味しかった！！
これはメディアに取り上げられるなと納得...
Shrimp tacos
Shrimp were grilled perfectly! Yum.
まだお腹が空いたのでシュリンプタコスも。
全てサイズが小さめで値段が安いのでたくさん頼んでも食べれます。
The owner came up to us and introduced the restaurant's concept and was very friendly.
Also what I liked about this place other than a friendly owner and tasty food was that the kitchen, the place itself looked very clean. Important stuff!
オーナーが何回で出て来てわざわざ話しかけてくれて
カスタマーサービスがすごくいい場所でした。
後はキッチンとお店じたいがすごく綺麗だったこと、
店内も赤いテーブルと椅子が並んで可愛いお店です。
The owner even gave me extra watermelon juice to take home!
オーナーさんが最後帰り際にスイカジュースもっと入れてあげるから
持ち帰りなさいとサービスしてもらえました。
